چکیده

This paper presented thorium and neptunium quantification of a new synthesized powder, (Th,Np)O2 mixed oxide. Thorium was quantified by Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometry using Isotope Dilution (ID-TIMS) which is one the most accurate methodology to determine actinide mass fraction. The (sample-spike) mixture isotope ratio measured TIMS reference method for major determination, i.e. total evaporation method. An expanded uncertainty below 1% estimated Th study sources showed that main comes from spike fraction uncertainty. As Np with ID-TIMS difficult due lack commercially-available solution, obtained ICP-MS measurements gravimetric standard addition combined an analytical internal standard. developed used element initially present in sample, here Th, as measurements. helps reducing number manipulation well cross contamination, important risk when experiments are performed glove boxes. Also, equations simplified. expected about 1.8% Np. Finally, Th–Np oxide found have Th0.4836(50)Np0.5164(50)O2 stoichiometry. can be extended other complicated samples or characterization in-house certified material.

Plutonium, protactinium, uranium and thorium isotopes determination in environmental samples by SF ICP-MS

Alpha spectrometry is the most commonly used analytical tool for the determination of Pu, Am, Pa, U and Th long live radionuclides. Thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) and acceleration mass spectrometry (AMS) are also still considered as primary methods for the determination of their isotope ratios. Spectrometers with plasma ion sources now offer another efficient alternative method wit...

A Comparison of GC-ICP-MS and HPLC-ICP-MS for the Analysis of Organotin Compounds Application

An inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) was used as a detector for gas chromatography (GC) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis of organotin compounds. ICP-MS is a highly sensitive detector with detection limits in the pg ng range, as well as enabling calibration by isotope dilution mass spectrometry (IDMS). Calibrating using isotopically labeled organotin...

A thorium metallacyclopentadiene complex: a combined experimental and computational study.

The synthesis, structure, and reactivity of a thorium metallacyclopentadiene were comprehensively studied. The reduction of (η(5)-C5Me5)2ThCl2 () with potassium graphite (KC8) in the presence of diphenylacetylene (PhC[triple bond, length as m-dash]CPh) yields the first thorium metallacyclopentadiene complex (η(5)-C5Me5)2Th(η(2)-C4Ph4) (). Density functional theory (DFT) studies suggest that the...

Standards for Quantitative Metalloproteomic Analysis Using Size Exclusion ICP-MS

Metals are essential for protein function as cofactors to catalyze chemical reactions. Disruption of metal homeostasis is implicated in a number of diseases including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, but the exact role these metals play is yet to be fully elucidated. Identification of metalloproteins encounters many challenges and difficulties. Here we report an approach that allows metallo...
